The desire to prepare oneself for ministry implies a vocation, a response, and a commitment that are characterized by distinct modes of leadership, witness, and service both within and beyond the Christian community. The call to ministry is acknowledged to be a gift of the Holy Spirit and thus a form of revelation that is disclosed in a variety of contexts and in the midst of diverse peoples. At the same time, we recognize that our understanding of distinct vocational identities and the ministerial responsibilities associated with them is guided by our Roman Catholic tradition.
In accord with the academic and professional standards identified with the Jesuit tradition of higher education, Weston Jesuit seeks to ensure that students enrolled in various degree programs are provided with opportunities for professional ministerial development that build upon the prior studies and previous experiences of each degree candidate. To this end, members of the faculty and administration endeavor to promote the integration of theological inquiry, ministerial practice, and spiritual formation in ways that are theoretically sound, professionally purposeful, and personally significant.
