Grading
1. A minimum grade of C is required in order for a course to be credited toward the M.Div., M.T.S., or M.A. degrees. A minimum grade of B is required in order for a course to be credited toward the Th.M., S.T.L., or S.T.D. degrees.

2. During the first two weeks of class, and after consulting with his or her faculty advisor, a student may elect to be graded on a pass/fail basis in any course in which the professor permits. After two weeks, the decision must be approved by the faculty advisor, and the registrar must be notified in writing. After six weeks, no change may be made.

M.Div. students may take no more than 18 credit hours on a pass/fail basis. M.T.S. students may take no more than 12 credit hours on a pass/fail basis. Th.M., S.T.L., and S.T.D. students may not take any courses, other than the Spiritual Direction Practicum, on a pass/fail basis. Under special circumstances, the Dean may allow a student to exceed these limits, but the reason must be noted in the student’s academic file. No student with more than six pass/fail grades will be considered for honors.

3. Weston Jesuit degrees are awarded with honors by vote of the faculty to those graduates who have a cumulative GPA of 3.8, and who complete the final performance evaluation where applicable (comprehensive examination, thesis, final paper, ministerial project and paper, etc.) with distinction.

4. Students are responsible for finishing a term’s work within the term. Incomplete work is due by the date agreed upon with the instructor, but no later than the fifth Friday after the end of semester examinations. Faculty members are required to remove the incomplete grade by the seventh Friday after the end of semester examinations. A form petitioning an incomplete must be signed by the student, faculty member, and faculty advisor with copies retained by each of the parties, and a copy given to the registrar by the last day of exam week. Students must present late work to the instructor with an appended grade report form, available from the Office of the Registrar. Any deviation in this policy requires the written approval of the Academic Dean.

If a student fails to complete the work by the designated date, the faculty member is required to remove the incomplete grade and submit a grade of PI (Permanent Incomplete). The written permission of the Academic Dean is required for more than one incomplete.
