
Weston Jesuit is dedicated to educating men and women for service in a global church, and is richly gifted by the presence of an international student community. While approximately 70% of our students come from the United States, over 35 different countries are represented by the other 30% of the student population. Whether in the classroom, planning liturgies, or socializing at parties, Weston students from the world over come together to share their experiences and perspectives – making Weston a unique place where cross-cultural collaboration is part of everyday student life.
The school administration works to help students from other countries make a smooth transition to study while here in the US. Before the formal orientation takes place for all new students, an orientation gathering for international students is held. Here, international students have the chance to meet one another and acquire information specific to their needs. Each month, opportunities for international students to gather are scheduled. These are usually evening gatherings for prayer, sharing, and a meal prepared by students featuring foods from their respective countries.
Academic assistance for international students is usually needed most in the area of writing theology in English. For this purpose, the school has developed a comprehensive tutorial program, known as the WRITE program. Students are provided with group sessions as well as one-on-one review of theme development and writing skills. Weston Jesuit is committed to seeking ways to assist students from other countries in accomplishing their study objectives in an environment that is supportive and conducive to their well-being.
The cosmopolitan environment of Harvard Square offers an exciting setting for international students. Weston Jesuit students often meet other students from their respective countries who are studying at one of the several world-renowned academic institutions in the area.
